Microsoft Lync goes RTM

October 28th, 2010 by

Hi Everyone, I’ve been tied up in meetings all day but thought I would release a quick note that Microsoft Lync Server has gone RTM.   While I haven’t had a chance to play with MS Lync yet I have heard it has some great features and adds a lot of value to your organization (Do I sound like a commercial?)

You can find more information at Microsoft Lync Released to Manufacturing on the Microsoft UC Group Team Blog.

It also looks like MS Lync will be released to the General Public on November 17, 2010.

Have a great day!

Microsoft Introduces Microsoft Lync…eh?

September 14th, 2010 by

For those of you out there that are fans of OCS you will be happy to know that the next version of OCS has been introduced!  Well, sorta, while the next version of OCS has been introduced it has gone through a name change.  The new version of OCS is now called Lync.  Lync, as in Link (connecting with people) and Sync (Syncing with people) making Microsoft Lync.

Honestly it gets really confusing with all the name changes.

Anyway, for more information Kirk Gregersen has a blog post located here with more info.  Based on the article it sounds like the RTM will be some time the end of the year.

Overall it sounds like a great product.  I saw a demo of MS Lync at TechEd 2010 and it was pretty sweet what the features offered.  I would recommend checking it out.
